What Will the Detroit Lions Do Differently to Win Next Week?
It was the game we didn’t want to see. The Detroit Lions fell to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday (Sept. 17), in a game that fans really thought the Lions would win. Final score was 37-31, following an OT defeat. So, what will the Detroit Lions do differently to win next week?
Between a sea of injuries and perhaps some nerves, the Lions just couldn’t deliver at the end. Head coach Dan Campbell summed it up after the game on Sunday. “We had some really good opportunities that we just didn’t capitalize from. I know it stings, and those guys are disappointed,” Campbell said to reporters in a post-game press conference. “I’m disappointed, the staff is. But, my gosh, man, this is good. We’ll get a little humble pie here. We’ve got a real good opponent coming in here next week (the Falcons), and they run it as good, if not better than these guys, and they have better weapons.”
What Will the Detroit Lions Do Differently to Win Next Week?
Watching this game, I have to say that even though both our defense and offense are strong, I still think we need help in the defense department. Linebacker Alex Anzalone agrees. During a post-game press conference, he said, “Defense has to figure out a way to get a stop in overtime, to, you know, help seal the deal. So, like you said, we just have to make plays, and it’s disappointing.” He added that, of course, you have to live with it.
What was crazy was that on the offensive end, Jared Goff threw his first interception in 383 pass attempts. He’s such a clean player, and I really thought I’d never see him throw an interception. Meanwhile, David Montgomery and Amon-Ra St. Brown each lost a fumble. But, even with this mishaps, I really believe our offense looked strong. Now, there’s no sense in looking back and becoming salt. Oh, and maybe we won’t see as many blue ski masks for the next Detroit Lions NFL home game.

Appearing on the “Pardon My Take” Podcast, Campbell said he asked for a pet lion at practice.
