Moody Blues singer-bassist John Lodge on writing “I’m Just a Singer (In a Rock and Roll Band).” OC:…that statement. :29
“The Seventh Sojourn album was loosely based on Pilgrim’s Progress and Canterbury Tales, about people who were journeying down to Canterbury and of an evening they’d sit down and tell stories about what had happened to them. I started to say what had happened to me, really, in the last 10 years and I suddenly realized at the end of it all that it doesn’t really matter what I’ve done or what had happened, I was just a singer in a rock and roll band. And what anyone had ever said or bestowed upon any of us, we were all just singers in rock and roll bands, and I wanted to make that statement.”
