Album: A non-LP single that was originally written as part of The Who’s abandoned Lifehouse project. It didn’t appear on an album in America until 30 years after the single was released — on the 2002 compilation, The Ultimate Collection.

Stats: It was the fifth of The Who’s eight Top 20 singles in the U.S., peaking at number-17 on the Billboard Hot 100. “I Can See for Miles” was the only one of those to crack the Top 10, and then just barely.

“A stopgap single that Pete was very excited about. I liked the sounds it made, I didn’t like the song particularly. It just seemed to go on and on and on, and we used to affectionately call it ‘Groin Together,’ ‘cause we had much more fun doing that than actually making the record.”
