“’Black Magic Woman’ was always one of my very favorites to play. I loved the introduction and the way we arranged it – an extended two-part introduction and then Carlos coming in with the melody. It always was just so fun, even playing a simple beat on the hi-hat – just to be doing that while the rest of the music was going on around me, I always got a great deal of satisfaction. And Carlos’s playing I just love on it.”
