The Background: The 1976 live album Frampton Comes Alive is where it all came together for Peter Frampton. He tells us that the album’s first two hits were born on the very same day during a tropical writing session for his previous album, 1975’s Frampton.
Peter Frampton on how “Baby I Love Your Way” and ““Show Me the Way” both resulted from a stay in Nassau that started with a bad case of writer’s block. OC:…the lyrics. :29
“I was down there for about three weeks – nothing. And I was in fact staying at Steve Marriott’s cottage – Humble Pie owned six little cottages on the beach and I rented Steve’s. And when I got going, I wrote like eight or nine songs, one after the other. And I went through some cassettes I found and I wrote “Show Me the Way,” “Baby I Love Your Way” and “Nowhere’s Too Far” in the same day. Not lyrically, as well — but I would write the music during the day and then when the sun went down I would write the lyrics.”
