The Great American Takeout is Today – Support Local Restaurants
Restaurants across the country are joining forces to encourage Americans to support local eateries and have named Tuesday, March 24th the Great American Takeout Day.
The event encourages locals to get at least one of their meals from a restaurant today.
While the coalition includes many national restaurants, such as IHOP and Panera Bread, we encourage you to also help support small businesses today.
Plenty of Detroit-area restaurants have takeout or delivery options, which has become crucial during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Here are some ways you can participate:
- Visit our Operation: Gift Card page to find local restaurants and bars currently selling gift cards.
- Use apps like GrubHub, DoorDash and Uber Eats to order takeout from local restaurants. Many of the apps are waving fees to local restaurants during the coronavirus crisis.
- Call your favorite restaurant and ask if they offer pickup or delivery options.
Let’s unite to help locally-owned businesses stay afloat during this difficult time. Feast on some of your favorite comfort foods at home during #TheGreatAmericanTakeOut!
