Metro Detroit Resident Wins Silver Medal for U.S. in Weightlifting
Big congratulations are in order for Katherine Nye of Berkley, who scored the coveted silver in the women’s 76 kg at the Olympic Games over the weekend.
Nye, according to USA Weightlifting, is also the first American woman to score a silver in that division.
USA Weightlifting announced the news Sunday (Aug. 1) via Twitter, stating, “Katherine Nye is the first American woman to win SILVER at the #OlympicGames!! Her 249kg total earns her a spot on the #Tokyo2020 podium!! Congratulations, Kate!!”

Katherine Nye at the Tokyo Olympics:
