A Michigan Bar is Banning Matthew Stafford Jerseys
There have been lots of rumors about Ford Field banning Matthew Stafford jerseys when the Detroit Lions host the Los Angeles Rams at this weekend’s Wild Card game. Those rumors are simply not true. I highly doubt Ford Field would even think to implement such a policy. It would be impossible to try to enforce.
That said, if you want to watch the game where you don’t have to see any Stafford jerseys in eyesight, then there’s a Michigan bar banning Matthew Stafford jerseys that you might want to check out.
Thomas Magee’s, a Detroit bar, has a policy for those coming to watch this Sunday’s Lions vs. Rams game. They’re very clear about it, too. “PSA: please refrain from trying to enter Thomas Magee’s on game day with Lions Stafford jerseys,” the bar stated on their official Facebook page. “You’ll be turned away at the door. It’s our first home game in 30 years, use some common sense. Regards, Ownership.” They also shared an image of four Stafford jerseys with a big red X over them, making it extra clear that those jerseys aren’t allowed on game day. By the way, Matthew’s wife Kelly has some thoughts on the jersey thing, which you can find here.
The Detroit Lions are hosting the L.A. Rams Sunday night (Jan. 14) as part of the NFL’s wild-card round this weekend. It marks the Lion’s first home playoff game in a whopping 30 years and the first-ever at Ford Field. Unfortunately, the greatness of this moment is being overshadowed. Some are only talking about how this game will mark Stafford’s first return to Ford Field since he was quarterback. I get why it’s a big deal that Stafford is coming “home.” But, I really wish people would just focus on the fact that the Lions have dome something incredible this season. Moreover, our current quarterback Jared Goff is playing the best football of his career. He’ll be going up against the team that traded him, including his former head coach Sean McVay. Go Lions. What’s more, hit me up with your thoughts here.
