Jim Harbaugh Explains Why He Left Michigan
After years of flirting with the NFL, Jim Harbaugh is finally heading back there as the head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers. It’s a great time for him to leave, of course. He just lead the Michigan Wolverines to a national championship win. So, if there was a time for him to say, “My work here is done,” and head back to the NFL, now would be that time. So, why did Jim Harbaugh leave Michigan? What’s the main reason? He explains why he left Michigan in a new interview.
On Sunday (Jan. 28), Harbaugh was at the Baltimore Ravens vs. Kansas City Chiefs game to watch as his older brother, John, coach the Ravens in the AFC Championship game. John lost that game, by the way, which was a shocker. It certainly shocked me. But, ahead of the game, Jim did an interview with the CBS sports crew to talk about his decision to come back to the NFL.
Harbaugh says it all boils down to one chief reason. Is it money? That’s not what he says. Is it being tired of all things Michigan? Definitely not. Does it have to do with the NCAA violations and that drama? Nope.
“It was tough. I was torn,” Harbaugh said. “My wife, kids. I love Michigan. But I love the NFL, too. There’s no Lombardi Trophy in college football. I only have so many sands left in the hourglass, and I want to take a crack at that.” So, he wants to win a Super Bowl. That totally makes sense. He has his work cut out for him, as the new leader of the Chargers. The team has a great quarterback but not much else right now. Best of luck to him, unless he’s playing the Detroit Lions, of course. It’s nice to hear him say how much he loves Michigan.
