Customer Tips $10,000 at Michigan Restaurant, But the Reason is the Real Story
Anyone who has been a server or bartender knows that a good tip is always appreciated. I worked at a bar in college, and whenever the customers tipped big, I always really appreciated their generosity. Well, a customer recently tipped a server a whopping $10,000 at a Michigan restaurant. While that’s amazing, the reason why is even more amazing. This one is a tear-jerker, so get out your tissue in preparation.
Servers at a Michigan restaurant were shocked when a customer left a massive $10,000 tip on a $32 bill. The restaurant was the Mason Jar Cafe in Benton Harbor, Michigan.
“Yesterday a customer came into the Mason Jar for breakfast and left one of our servers a $10,000 tip!” the restaurant stated on social media. “The server even shared the tip amongst the the other staff to continue to spread the love.” The restaurant added, “In a time where so much is happening, we wanted to share and thank the person who did this life changing act. Things can feel real heavy sometimes. But, this was such an amazing act to have seen first hand in our restaurant.”
The continued, “So to everyone doing what they can for themselves, and for others, we see you, thank you, and appreciate you. Keep sharing the love where you can folks.”
So, why did they leave such a big tip? The reason why, according to WOOD-TV, the man was in town for the funeral of a friend who had recently passed. The customer wanted to leave the tip as a tribute to the friend’s memory. The server who got the big tip, according to WOOD-TV, shared the kindness and split the tip with everyone who was working that day. There were nine people working at the time, so each got $1,100.” That’s such a heart-warming story. It’s so appropriate that the server continued in that giving spirit to split the tip.
