Michigan Storm: If You Have to Travel, Here’s What to Bring to Stay Safe
A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for most of Michigan, as well as a Blizzard Warning in some areas.
Driving will be very hazardous over the next few days. The main advice from the National Weather Service (NWS)is really just stay off the roads.
If you do have to travel, the NWS recommends having certain emergency supplies.
According to FEMA, some staples to have in the car are a cell phone and charger, a First Aid Kit, jumper cables, water and snacks, a flashlight, a full tank of gas, blankets, a shovel, an ice scraper, and a snow brush. Other good items will to have include flares, tire chains or snow tires, a tow rope, and a bag of sand.
