Detroit Lions Start 2024 NFL Season with Ecstatic Home Crowd and WCSX at The Elwood

224. It may be an odd way to start a story, but many of the 60,000 Detroit Lions staff, players, coaches, and fans know exactly what that number means. It was 224 days ago that the Detroit Lions were on the road in San Fransisco against the 49ers, playing for the right to go to their first-ever Super Bowl. The first half of that game looked glorious for every Lions fan, but as we all know, when the final whistle was blown, the Lions found themselves on the losing end. 224 days have passed, and now, with the NFL Draft in the rearview mirror, plenty of talk by the experts, preseason games played, and new players signed, the Detroit Lions are ready to take the field to make sure that THIS YEAR IS THE YEAR OF THE LIONS. The season opener kickoff wasn't scheduled until 8:20 p.m. Still, thousands packed the streets surrounding Ford Field as early as 8:20 a.m., waiting to take a seat and witness the Detroit Lions pick right back up where they left off in late January. The day's festivities were made more worthwhile as national press coverage from NBC arrived and let everyone watching know that Detroit was the team to beat. One of those packed streets (at Brush and Adams St) sits The Elwood Bar & Grill, and it was here that 94.7 WCSX and first-round draftable talent Screamin' Scott took in the pregame festivities and joyous crowds that passed by, looking forward to the upcoming Detroit Lions season. The Detroit Lions would be taking on the Los Angeles Rams in a division-round playoff rematch in which former Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford returned to Ford Field but saw himself losing as the Lions roared to victory 24-23. The goal for this team has not changed, but with two playoff victories now underneath them, the expectations have only grown. It's forward down the field for the Detroit Lions, and victory formation is in place for every of their next 17 games. These fans are ready for it, and so is this writer. GO LIONS! A special thank you to Liz at The Elwood for allowing the WCSX crew to hang out and participate in what is sure to be a spectacular season for the Lions.
