Time to Spring Forward

Time to Spring forward again here in Michigan Sun, Mar 12, 2023, at 2:00 AM. Sunrise and sunset will be about 1 hour later on Mar 12, 2023, than the day before. It will be brighter and longer in the evening. Also called Spring Forward, Summer Time, and Daylight Saving Time. But I remember up in Lansing at the capitol they were talking about getting rid of this silly rule that makes everyone miserable. A total of 350 bills and resolutions have been introduced in every state, whether establishing daylight saving or standard as year-round time.

To make year-round daylight time happen, Michigan would have to leave the Eastern time zone. And follows the Atlantic Time zone an hour ahead of New York. Michigan would be the only U.S. state in the Atlantic time zone. I think it’s a great idea. To my understanding,  Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania also decided to use Daylight Saving Time year-round. Who’s the hold-up?  Indiana and Wisconsin do not have any pending legislation to eliminate daylight savings time.

Congress has to make the change. U.S. Senate passed the Sunshine Protection Act earlier this year, delighting a majority of Americans annoyed by the ritual of springing forward and falling back.

Not looking forward to waking up in darkness instead of a nice sunrise. Way too dark for me personally. Studies prove that “Daylight saving time,” leads to increased traffic and workplace accidents, higher rates of strokes and heart attacks, and decreased rates of workplace productivity,” There is hope, proposed legislation stands now, year-round daylight saving time would take effect in November 2023, assuming it passes the House and President Joe Biden signs it. Are you saying there’s a chance?

Look forward to me being grumpy pretty soon. Time to get rid of Daylight Saving Time
