Did You Know Alex Van Halen Is A Ordained Minister?

Alex Van Halen is a rock god behind the drum kit. However, a little-known fact is that he is an ordained minister. He presided at the second wedding of his brother Eddie Van Halen in 2009 and the second wedding of Valerie Bertinelli, who is now his ex-sister-in-law, in 2011.

Following the divorce from Valerie, both parties went on to remarry; Van Halen married Janie Liszewski in 2009; Janie Liszewski was married to guitar legend Eddie Van Halen for more than ten years before the rocker’s death. Liszewski worked as Van Halen’s publicist before they married at his California home in 2009.

The couple married in June 2009. They celebrated with a private ceremony at 5150 Studio City, California. People reported that Liszewski’s mother walked her down the aisle to one of Van Halen’s songs, “When It’s Love.”

Liszewski’s sister was the maid of honor. Van Halen’s son, Wolfgang, who was 18 at the time, was the best man. Van Halen’s brother, Alex Van Halen, performed the ceremony.

Eddie’s son Wolfgang served as his dad’s best man, while Alex Van Halen, the rock and roll ordained minister, officiated the 20-minute service. This is Eddie’s second wedding. Eddie Van Halen wore flip-flops.

In May 2010, Valerie Bertinelli announced her engagement to financial planner Tom Vitale, whom she had married in 2004. They were married on January 1, 2011, in Malibu, California. Her ex-husband, Eddie Van Halen, and their son, Wolfgang Van Halen, attended the wedding. It sounds a little far out, but Alex Van Halen presided at the second wedding of Valerie Bertinelli, his ex-sister-in-law, in 2011.

Alex has been keeping a pretty low profile up to now. The Eddie Van Halen tribute show fell to pieces in a ball of drama. I can't blame him for this one, as I heard he tried. Alex is getting ready for another kind of tribute to his younger brother Ed, a book to be released soon.

The title of the upcoming book is "Brothers." In this intimate recollection, nothing like any rock-and-roll memoir you've ever read, Alex Van Halen shares his personal story of family, friendship, music, and life on the road. Maybe Alex will reveal where the whole ordained minister thing came to be.

A lot of details go into it becoming an epic moment in time. Factors go into determining how great the event is going to be. Let's start with the concert announcement. All the greatest, Most Epic Moments in Live Music started on the radio. Some of the great ones were way before social media was a thing. Radio would be the first clue when the radio personality would tease coming up at 10 am a major concert announcement. Waiting all morning even guessing at who might be coming to town. My concert memories always had that, "it will be something to tell your grandkids someday.

Concert announcements by looking in the local newspaper. Pine Knob would post in early Spring the concerts for the upcoming season. There was always word of mouth about a concert coming to town or a friend who worked at a local record store.

The next step in the process was who was going to go with you to the show. Would it be an epic night with close friends or a concert with your best girl? Choose carefully as one wrong choice had major ramifications. Next was the transportation to and back from the show. Yes, I said back from the show. How many have ever been left at a show to find their own way home?

The last is to enjoy the show. Favorite beverage, or extracurricular activity to say it lightly. Remember you want to remember the show. What was nice is that some on this list have no cell phone documentation. Don't be that person that goes Facebook live with distorted audio and you singing in the background.
