Alice Cooper wrote, recorded, and released "Elected" in 1972. He's been making rock star presidential runs ever since. Here's the video for Alice's latest campaign:

"I'm a troubled man for troubled times. I have absolutely no idea what to do, so I should fit right in."

In a recent interview, Alice said, "I am extremely nonpolitical. I would only do this because the song was a hit. It was John Lennon's favorite song, "Elected" was, because it was such a great satire on politics."

Alice Cooper also has his own line of presidential merch he calls the "Election Collection." I think I made need something from here.

Are the other rock star presidential runs? Kayne West is a different type of rock star, but he did run for president in 2020 and he announced a bid for 2024 but without party affiliation. And there are some musicians that have been very politically active.

Other Rock Stars in Politics

Sonny Bono most likely saw the most success in the political realm. He was the mayor of Palm Springs for four years (1988-1992). In 1994, Sonny was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives where he served until his death in 1998. Sonny is considered more of an actor than a rock star, but it's all good. I got you, babe.

Joe Walsh ran for president in 2020... but not the Joe Walsh we know of the Eagles, but rather this Joe Walsh. Are they related? Maybe? We could not confirm or deny a connection. We do know that the two Joes had a legal battle back in 2010 when Joe Walsh, politician, used a Joe Walsh, James Gang Song. in the end, the two Joes decided to Walk Away.
