Something is in the Works to Celebrate Woodstock’s 50th Anniversary
Are plans already being made for a 50th anniversary celebration of the Woodstock festival?
The actual occasion will be in 2019, but Carlos Santana tells us that festival co-founder Michael Lang is already starting to plot something special:
“It’s two years from now. We talked to Michael Lang last time we were in Madison Square Garden and he came over to visit…It’s a positive thing. Looking forward to getting together with Michael and sculpturing what kind of an event are we going to have?”
Santana, meanwhile, is already starting to think about what he’d want to do that night:
“I’m preparing myself, lord willing, to be at Woodstock with three or four bands. One band is with this band right now, and also part with the original (Santana) band, plus a band with Larry Graham and Greg Errico from the Sly Stone band. I’m not sure that Sly Stone himself will be in shape, in a condition, to present himself and the music in that way. But my friendships and brotherhoodness with Larry Graham and Greg Errico is always, like, an all-time high…and we would sculpture a set.”
Meanwhile, Santana is on the road this summer and is also ppreparing forthe July 28 release of Power Of Peace, a joint album with the Isley Brothers.
