Cheers! Which Cocktail Recipe Is Michigan Looking For The Most?
Google released a list state by state of the most searched alcoholic drinks during our current situation. Michigan’s tip searched drink? The Cosmo. Seriously. Nothing wrong with a nice Cosmopolitan I suppose, but in turn, I had to look up the recipe since I don’t need a recipe for Bud Light Seltzer. Cosmopolitans are mostly made with vodka, triple sec or Cointreau, lime juice and cranberry juice. I also had to look up how to pronounce “Cointreau.” (Kaan-trow). Should I be embarrassed by that? Are you drinking this? I never really got into Sex and the City so much Cosmo knowledge is weak and puny.
Some states top searched drinks are embarrassing. South Dakota, you seriously don’t know how to make a Screwdriver? It’s two ingredients: vodka and OJ… even I know that one. The top searched cocktail for the entire country? The Old Fashioned! I have never had an Old Fashioned in my life. Lol, guess I need to live a little? The Old Fashioned involves muddling sugars and bitters, adding whiskey (or sometimes brandy) and garnishing with a citrus rind. That sounds like a lot of work.
New York’s top drink was the Manhattan. No surprise there since New Yorkers are all about New York and LOVE to tell you how they are from New York every chance they get.
Ohio’s top drink was the Boulevardier. I have never heard of it before today: whiskey, sweet vermouth and campari. It’s named after an American-born writer who founded a magazine in Paris called “The Boulevardier.” Stop it, Ohio. You are not that fancy. My 7th grade English teacher, Mr. Evans, referred to you as “The Armpit of America.” Harsh words on his part, but bottom line, you are not that fancy.
