Draymond Green is Getting Salty About the Detroit Pistons
The Detroit Pistons are going through quite a massive upheaval as of late, and it’s warranted, since the team has been at the bottom of the NBA for years now. I still love the team, but just 14 wins is difficult. Now, former Michigan State Spartan and current Golden State Warrior Draymond Green is getting salty about the Detroit Pistons. I know that Green often makes controversial comments, but I am 100% with him on this one. In fact, what Green said is actually what I’ve been screaming at the top of my lungs to my friends and family the past month, so I’m happy to not be alone in my thoughts. Here’s what Draymond Green has to say about the Detroit Pistons and their latest move.

If you’ve followed my comments on the Pistons, then you know that I really wanted the team to keep head coach Monty Williams for longer than, oh, 11 months. Nobody seems to remember that Dan Campbell lost nearly every single Detroit Lions game his first year with the team. But, the Lions kept him and gave him one more chance, and he delivered. I wish the Pistons had the foresight and patience to do so with Williams. He didn’t even get to pick his players. But, he’s walking away with millions of dollars, so that’s a good thing for him.
Green agrees with me. The former Spartan talked about Williams’ firing on the latest episode of his podcast, “The Draymond Green Show,” and sounded notably frustrated with the Detroit’s move to let Williams go. “They hired him for an all-time contract in NBA history and fired him the next year,” Green said. “They didn’t even give him a chance to actually build what they thought he could build when they hired him for six years. You sign someone to a six-year contract, you can’t possibly think that in year one, everything will change. You need time to instill culture. Culture isn’t built overnight.”
That’s exactly what I’ve been saying, Green. You don’t sign someone to a six-year deal and expect them to turn one of the worst teams in the NBA around on a dime. Williams was put in place but didn’t have control over much while he was in Detroit. But, all I can say, is that they better find a good replacement. Reach out to me with your thoughts.
