New Michigan Restaurant Opens With Unique Options
It’s always a happy affair when a new Michigan restaurant or any establishment, really, pops up in town. I love seeing local people living out their dreams and having their own restaurants and small businesses, and it’s even better when those businesses thrive and earn “regulars.” Now, a new Michigan restaurant and brewery is flourishing after opening in July. I can’t wait to try this place, and I hope this story repeats itself for many more local restaurant owners.
New Michigan Restaurant, Summerlands Brewing Company, is Open
Summerlands Brewing Company opened up at 1957 Cedar Street in Holt, Michigan, this summer. According to the LSJ, “Hobby brewers Brian Hunt and Joe Prevo opened Summerlands Brewing Company in early July. The pair, both programmers at Jackson National Life, spent three years laying the groundwork for the restaurant.” The LSJ notes that Summerlands opened in a building that previously had Charlie’s Bar and Grill. Summerlands also has “different varieties of craft beer made on-site and a menu that includes Jamaican jerk wings, Tex-Mex chicken nachos, smash burgers and key lime pie.” That sounds so tasty.
“Our little hobby grew bigger and bigger, and now we’re standing in our own building,” Prevo told Fox 47 when they opened in July. Joe and Brian also told Fox 47 that they planned to do this a while ago, but it was delayed due to the pandemic. “It’s nervous, it’s exciting, we really think people are going to love the place,” Hunt added.
What’s really cool is that the brewing company hosts some random events that you really don’t see many other places. For example, on September 8, they held a special event to help raise funds for Happy Feet Pet Rescue. During the event, dubbed Pups and Pints, they donated $1 for each beer and seltzer to the cause. Looking at their regular schedule, they also have karaoke nights and movie nights.
This new Michigan restaurant, and you can even tell that just heading to their website. “Welcome to Summerlands Brewing Company, a locally-owned craft beer and beverage establishment,” they state. “Step into our tropical-themed taproom and indulge in our excellent selection of craft beers, seltzers, and non-alcoholic craft soda.” I love that it’s tropical-themed, and that will definitely be appealing in the winter months. As for drinks, one of their newest offerings is “Cucumber Cream Ale,” a “light bodied and refreshing” drink, which “starts out with a slightly sweet flavor that transitions to an effervescent cucumber that lingers on the tongue.” Contact me with your favorite new Michigan spots.
