A Unicorn and Shark Attack: Doni’s Wild Vacation
Deer Texas, thanks for the memories. I just got back from a family vacation in Texas visiting my sister, Mary. We went on an “African Safari – Texas Style.” The place is amazing. More than 400 acres of wildlife that you can roll through in your car. Photo ops GALORE! In our case, we rented the Zebra Mobile and had a guide, which was awesome. We learned a bunch of stuff about the animals! Here’s some of what I learned:
Did you know that for every foot tall a giraffe is, its tongue is one inch long?
The American Bison is the largest mammal in North America. It nearly became instinct back in the settler days. Much of the American Bison population was killed off because it was a food source for the Native Americans. Those looking to starve the Native Americans out, killed the bison off. Super crappy move. Today, the American Bison numbers have rebounded and they continue to grow and thrive.
Ostriches have TWO sets of eyelids! One set moves horizontally. The other set moves vertically.
UNICORN SITING! The Wildlife Ranch has a unicorn! Antlers shed and grow back, horns do not. This particular horned animal lost one of his horns and now he’s a unicorn for life!
Here’s a picture of our group and the Zebra Mobile.
Last but not least, SHARK ATTACK! I think this is hilarious! My son, Jake, did not find it as funny. 🙂
Hope you enjoyed the pics and learned something about animals! or at least you learned something about my warped family’s sense of humor. 🙂
