Today is International Clash Day!
The day was started more than a decade ago by a radio host in Seattle.
“Celebrating music as a tool for social consciousness, and a band that made it sound so damn good.”
The Clash was groundbreaking. Mixing a ridiculous amount of musical styles and genres, The Clash was one of the founders of the punk movement and champions of the disenfranchised. The Clash manifesto: “We’re anti-Fascist, we’re anti-violence, we’re anti-racist and we’re pro-creative.” In 2003, shortly after the passing of Joe Strummer, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Which Clash song is your favorite? It’s so difficult to choose. “Rock the Casbah” was the first video I saw on MTV. “Train in Vain” is an underrated gem that I adore. “Should I Stay Or Should I Go” is one of my favorites from my bar DJing years.
