Lumberjack Day
Today is Lumberjack Day! This even reminds me of one of Monty Python’s most famous sketches…
Lumberjack Day
The holiday was created in 2005 by Marianne Ways and Colleen AF Venable as an excuse to eat pancakes and waffles with friends, which is why today is also known as Pancake Day and Waffle Day! Apparently, if you’re a lumberjack, you have to eat pancakes and waffles a lot. Check out more reasons to celebrate you may be unaware of on Checkiday.com
Pretty much THE most famous lumberjack is Paul Bunyan. Michigan actually has THREE Paul Bunyan statues. One is in Alpena (Paul Bunyan & Babe The Blue Ox). Another is in Manistique and a third one you can’t miss when you drive through West Branch!
Donielle Flynn has two kids, two cats, two dogs, and a love of all things rock. She’s been in radio decades and held down top-rated day parts at Detroit, Philadelphia, and Washington DC radio stations throughout her tenure. She enjoys writing about rock news, the Detroit community, and she has a series called “The Story Behind” where she researches the history of classic rock songs.
