Tina Turner/Bob Seger/Brian Johnson
Reading the news today (Wednesday 5/24) of the passing of Tina Turner. One of the most amazing performers in rock history – and her connection to so many Classic Rock artists that have been influenced by her. Like Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band covering Tina’s “Nutbush City Limits”:
Did you know Tina covered a Seger song as well? Check out this performance of “Hollywood Nights” by Tina in 1983
And there’s also Tina covering “Fire Down Below”
But let’s get back to Nutbush City Limits:
As I dove deeper into this song and people influenced by it – I found an amazing story of Brian Johnson from AC/DC. When he did his audition with the band the first song they did was….Nutbush City Limits.
Check them out at a benefit concert back in 2003
Tina Turner, the iconic singer and influential force in music history, has died. She was 83.
Turner’s death was confirmed in a statement to the media that said, “Tina Turner, the ‘Queen of Rock’n Roll’ has died peacefully today at the age of 83 after a long illness in her home in Kusnacht near Zurich, Switzerland. With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model.”
I started thinking about all the shows from Tina here in Detroit…here’s just one page from the concert database:
