Tiger’s New “Sun Day Red” Brand
A lot of us were saddened by the news that Tiger Woods was splitting up with Nike earlier this year. It was a relationship that spanned 27 years and changed the way golfers dressed forever. Fortunately for us, it hasn’t taken Tiger long to find a new partner and create a new line of high end active wear.
On Monday morning, just ahead of the Genesis Invitational, a tournament Tiger sponsors and is playing in this year, he announced his new brand. An “active premium lifestyle brand” called “Sun Day Red”. With this new brand Tiger has teamed up with Taylor Made to get it done.
Tiger held a press conference yesterday to talk about the brand. This was one of his first thoughts. “It’s the right time in my life,” Woods said at the launch event. “It’s transitional. I’m no longer a kid anymore. Life changes, I have kids now, and this is an important part of transitioning into this part of my life, to have a product and a brand that I’m proud of.”
Tiger also went on to talk about his experiences over the years when it comes to apparel. He mentioned that he always had a say in the clothing he wore, he was always a part of the process when it came to function and style. Being a part of those processes has helped Tiger shape this image for his new brand.
It’s not surprise that Tiger is keeping with the red theme. A color that became his final round staple many years ago. He began wearing red after his mother told him to wear it on Sundays because it is his power color.
When you first look at the logo of “Sun Day Red” you may notice is looks pretty simple. It’s more than meets the eye though. The logo features a Tiger with 15 stripes, one for each major championship Tiger has won. When asked what would happen if he wins another he said, well, we will have to adjust the logo.
Here is a look at the logo:
Some are wondering how much of an influence Taylormade will have in the “Sun Day Red” Brand. Yesterday the CEO of Taylormade stated that although the brand is apart of Taylormade as a whole, “Sun Day Red” will be it’s own company with it’s own headquarters.

NOT JUST A GOLF BRAND:
This new venture for Tiger Woods will not just stop at golf clothing. Yes, to start, the brand will focus on golf appeal. But, it was mentioned in the press conference that the brand will eventually expand to a full lifestyle line. The CEO of Taylormade David Abeles mentioned that by next year the hope to have footwear, and you could see Tiger wearing the new shoes as early as this summer.
This partnership between Woods and Taylormade only seems to be growing. It started back in 2017 when Tiger switched from playing Nike clubs to Taylormade. Last year, Taylormade invested a large amount into Tigers indoor golf facility and restaurant. I think it’s safe to say that Tiger will remain with Taylormade the rest of his career.
Tiger will begin to wear the line this week at Riviera Country Club for the PGA tours second signature event.
MY THOUGHTS ON THE BRAND:
I will be honest, when I first saw the new line from Tiger I was disappointed. I honestly thought it was a little to generic. Then I took some time and thought about it. There are two things you can see and know it’s Tiger Woods. The Sunday Red and the Tiger logo. Since yesterday, I have changed my mind and I am not completely on board with the brand.
