I had to ask about Austin Powers and people saying “yeahhh baby” to her, which led to a discussion about what props she’s kept from movies and a surprising answer:
(Big Jim) Are you cool when people walk by and go, Yeah, baby. Yeah. Is that okay?
(Elizabeth) Yes, it’s more than okay. Promise you’ll say that if we ever meet. in the flesh. I don’t mind it.
(Big Jim) I’ll blush then, yeah, I’ll say that. But seriously though, I always wonder about that because it’s something that you’re gonna carry with you for the rest of your life. And it’s a compliment, I think, but is there a point where you’re like, enough, I got it, okay, I was in Austin Powers, I got it, can we move on?
(Elizabeth) No, you know what, Austin Powers bedazzled any of those things I did in the ’90s. I’m so happy when people talk about that. I have to say, I get it. I once wore a dress that had a lot of safety pins in it. And I have to say, I get asked about that all the time. And that’s a little more tedious. But the movies, I’m happy to be asked about.
(Big Jim) Did you keep anything from any of the movies? Did you keep any props from Austin Powers or Bedazzled?
(Elizabeth) Hell, yes. Every single one.
(Big Jim) Really? All right, well, rock on. So like,what’d you keep?
(Elizabeth) I kept all my costumes from both movies. props. Brendan Fraser gave me this there’s one scene it was it in the in the cut scenes or in the scene there’s one scene where okay we shot one scene and it actually didn’t make it in the movie but I was in a little frilly maids outfit like a chamber maids outfit and I gave him this little silver bell in it and I said just ring it and I’ll always appear….and for my wrap present he bought me a beautiful little antique silver bell and said, “ring it and i’ll appear.” It’s so sweet and it’s on my dining room table. And I see it three times a day and I love it. And it makes me think of Brendan every time.
