South Lyon Factoids – CSX City of the Week
Congratulations to South Lyon,
You’re the WCSX City of the Week
South Lyon factoids:
- South Lyon was called Thompson’s Corners when it was founded in 1832.
- The city’s name was eventually changed to South Lyon after State Legislative Member, Lucius Lyon.
- Railroad ties! The Grand Trunk Railroad ran through South Lyon until the early 1980’s. The branch line is now a paved bicycle trail through town and Reynold Sweet Parkway follows the original route.
- Pumpkinfest is the largest annual festival in the South Lyon community, traditionally held during the last weekend of September.
