Berkley Factoids
- Berkley was originally called West 12 Mile Road Community. Berkley got its name from a road that ran through a farm in the area and the name grew from there.
- Berkley is an active participant in the Woodward Dream Cruise. Berkley holds their own event, the Berkley CruiseFest the day before the Woodward Dream Cruise…. they’ve been doing it since 1995.
- Berkley was recently named the best suburb in Michigan this month by the MSN website’s Microsoft News and Real Estate in its list of the Top Suburb in Every State.
- In other recognitions this year, Berkley was named one of the Top 10 Cities & Towns for New Families in the U.S by pennygeeks.com and one of the Top 5 safest Communities in Michigan by the National Council for Home Safety and Security.
