Redford Factoids – CSX City of the Week
Congratulations to Redford,
You’re the WCSX City of the Week
Redford Factoids:
- Detroit Popcorn Company has been in business since 1923. Its headquarters are in Redford.
- Redford is the birthplace of Ted Nugent! Ted graduated from Redford High School. Because of boundary changes in Detroit, Ted was technically born in Detroit, but the area is what is known as Redford today.
- Redford was originally a part of Pekin Township. The name Redford was chosen because Indians and pioneers forded the River Rouge where the river runs through Redford. “Rouge” is French for “red.”
- Redford was the home of the first Fretter’s Electronics store…. home of Ollie Fretter and his legendary TV commercials of the 70’s and 80’s.
