Keith Moon blew up his drum set
On December 6, 1967 The Who were scheduled to perform on the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. Keith decided that he would make his entrance by blowing up his drum set with explosives. The explosion was so large that it destroyed the entire set and caused minor injuries to Moon and Pete Townshend. The Who were forced to cancel their performance and Moon was banned from the show.
Keith Moon crashed a TV set
During a live broadcast of Top of the Pops in January of 1968, Keith crashed his drums into a television set, causing it to shatter. The incident caused £200 worth of damage and Moon was fined £5 for his actions.
Keith Moon stole a policeman’s helmet
In May of 1968 Keith stole a policeman’s helmet and wore it while riding on the back of a motorcycle driven by Who manager Kit Lambert. The two were stopped by police and Lambert was arrested for driving without a license. Moon was not arrested but was given a warning.
Keith Moon drove a car into an apartment building
In September of 1968 Keith drove his Rolls Royce into the lobby of an apartment building in London. He claimed that he had mistaken the building for a car park. No one was injured but there was significant damage to the lobby
