Michigan Lawmakers Trying To Ban Fantasy Football
Michigan is the latest state to take a shot at the potential similarities between daily fantasy sports pick games and sports betting. Fantasy games like football, baseball, and basketball have been a favorite of sports fans for ages.
What is DFS?
(DFS) Daily fantasy sports, is a season-long fantasy contest that millions of people play each year, especially games like baseball & football. In a season of a fantasy sport, you and a group of other people pick rosters of players. You compile points based on those selected players’ statistics throughout a season. The winner is the person who drafts the team with the players with the best statistics.
The Michigan Gaming Control Board recently proposed DFS regulations to prohibit fantasy contests. The proposed new rule law addresses the player DFS offered by online companies like DraftKings and FanDuel.

The other big difference between fantasy league and DFS is the money involved. While season-long is relatively small pots of money up for grabs, DFS players can sometimes win thousands, and sometimes millions, of dollars. I won a fantasy football league one year and won over 1,000 dollars.
There are even Fantasy Golf Betting leagues
Do You Like Fantasy Sports?
Fantasy games are a novelty with friends and people who become friends. Plus you look at the games of sports differently. More focused, and fun, and the enjoyment level is great when one of your players scores or does well on any given game. I don’t see much difference between fantasy leagues then legal online gambling. Maybe the State of Michigan wants a piece of the kitty?
Money to Be Made With Fantasy Sports Betting
Michigan’s regulations are still pending and would need approval from the state legislature before they take effect.
The legislature previously approved a rule change that created licensing requirements for fantasy operators who had otherwise operated on their own without regard to the gaming laws of the State.
There are stories on other forms of gambling on sports like,
what they call, “squares.” When it comes to football games and the biggest betting game of the year, “The Super Bowl.”

You know that person who stays in the same spot throughout an entire game, and when their team gives up possession they change positions? That’s who we’re talking about. So, when things are going well, they’re practically immobile. They won’t step away for food or even use the bathroom. Why? Because they can’t risk “messing up the flow.” On the other hand, if things are not going as planned, they might wander around the living room persistently in search of a lucky seat where good things could potentially happen. Of course, for some fans, their ritualistic and superstitious behaviors might just be traditions, regardless of whether their team comes out on top or experiences a loss.
From wearing a specific jersey to eating a particular snack, these rituals are believed to bring luck and influence the game. For instance, some fans might have a lucky pre-game routine, like wearing mismatched socks or doing a little victory dance before kickoff. Even food choices play a role, with some fans only eating certain foods while watching the game, like nachos or chicken wings, believing that deviating from this menu might lead to bad luck. It’s these quirky and often amusing superstitions that add an extra layer of excitement to the football fan experience.
Take a look at a few of these superstition-filled traditions that football fans have been sharing on Reddit.
