Paul Rodgers New Solo Album Is Amazing.
Let’s just say it: Paul Rodgers new solo album is amazing. Each track on “Midnight Rose” soars with that wonderful blues vibe that only Paul Rodgers can bring. We spent some time with Paul talking about the album, his health and much more
Here’s some of our conversation (Paul in bold)
Yes, I definitely do. And it was so good actually to be back in the studio at that point because I’d been, had all these health issues and stuff. And then I was sitting at home playing acoustic and building back up my strength, my singing abilities really. And so I wanted to go in the studio and see what we could come up with. And it was so great to be on mic with the cans on and the drummer in front of me, the guitarist in front of me, the bass player. And, and the four of us just went for it. And coming home was the first track did actually, and it was so great to be singing again.
Now if you’re not aware – Paul went through some serious health issues over the past couple of years
The iconic singer shared in a new interview with CBS Mornings that he suffered 13 strokes in recent years. Two of those strokes were major, while 11 of them were considered minor in comparison. The first major stroke happened in 2016, while the second happened in 2019.
These strokes left Rodgers unable to sing or speak properly and eventually led Rodgers into surgery. The surgery Rodgers had was an endarterectomy, which removed plaque that was clogging a carotid artery.
Rodgers said of the surgery, “They told me, they’re very clear, ‘You may not come out of this alive.’ And I said, ‘Oh, well, that’s a plus, isn’t it?’ And when I woke up, I opened my eyes, I thought, ‘Oh, I’m still here.’”
Following surgery, his recovery was slow. It took Rodgers six months to begin singing and playing guitar again.
