Best Tips For Calling Off Work After St. Patrick’s Day
Being Irish, I love St. Patrick’s day. It’s another opportunity to show my love for my ancestors, eat a lot of good hardy food and drink a ton of beer! Speaking off beer, here are some good ways to get out of work the next day, since St. Pat’s day is on Sunday this year.
For years, I have been partaking in some of the St. Patrick’s Day festivities, safe to say this year I will not. I have a new baby coming but it is also on a Sunday, I wake up to early for work but for others this is the perfect Sunday Funday.
Now, how do you get out of work the next day? The folks over at Zippia.com have come up with some clever and thoughtful ways of getting out of work.
Here are a few ways:
1. Keep it brief. Less is more here . . . tell your boss as little as possible without sounding evasive. Giving a bunch of details isn’t really necessary, and the more specifics you add, the more suspicion it can cause.
2. Acknowledge bad timing. Your boss knows it’s a Monday . . . and the day after St. Patrick’s Day . . . so NOT mentioning it would be suspicious. And unless you spent all week bragging about how wasted you’re going to get this weekend, you should be fine.
3. Only tell people who need to know. Follow your company’s policy, but generally you should only need to tell your boss and any coworkers who might be affected by your absence.
4. Offer to do makeup work. You might get stuck doing it, you might not. But it’ll make you look better in the end.
RYAN’S THOUGHTS AND IDEAS:
So, after looking at this list, the one that stands out the most is number 1. I feel like when fake calling in sick, you really need to be quick about it. Nothing says you are lying more like going on and on about your symptoms, feels, or how sorry you are to be sick. One other way to get out of work is just not show up! It will work and might give you a full time break from that job!
To end, everyone have a great St. Patrick’s Day! Be safe, and have fun! Also, don’t forget. Screamin’ Scott will be partying in Richmond!
