Twisted Sister LIVE: First Time in 6 Years
Twisted Sister didn’t tour for years even before the pandemic. Last week that changed. Twisted Sister LIVE at The Metal Hall of Fame… read on for details on the show and performance.
In 2015, they lost drummer, A.J. Pero, after an apparent heart attack. Twisted sister hired Mike Portnoy to replace A.J. but they disbanded shortly after. At the time, the band didn’t give a direct answer on why they disbanded. Dee Snider said in a 2017 interview, “Basically, the level of intensity that I performed at with Twisted Sister, I had to stop while I could still deliver that before I could no longer deliver that.”
January 26th, 2023, Twisted Sister performed for the first time together in more than six years at The Metal Hall of Fame Charity Gala. Dee Snider, Jay Jay French, Mark Mendoza, and Mike Portnoy performed three songs, “We’re Not Gonna Take It,” “Under The Blade,” and “You Can’t Stop Rock N’ Roll.” Guitarist, Eddie Ojeda, couldn’t make the event because he had Covid.
Portnoy and Steve Via inducted Twisted Sister. Other inductees included Raven, Lou Gramm, Doug Aldrich, and Chris Impellitteri. The benefit raises money for the non-profit Drums and Disabilities. The organization provides drum therapy to adults and children with disabilities.
