Start The New Year With Mr. Big And The Big Finish
Big news, really big as the rumors are confirmed. Mr. Big Announces a January & February U.S. Tour. So far 23 dates are set to go. Plans also for the band to play the smash album, “Lean Into In,” in its entirety and more surprises. They are calling the tour The Big Finish. Eric Martin (lead vocals), Paul Gilbert (guitar), Billy Sheehan (bass), and Nick D’Virgilio will take over on drums. The band’s original drummer Pat Torpey lost his battle with Parkinson’s disease five years ago. The band now feels it’s time to go out the way they want to. “BIG.”
This Will Be A Can’t-Miss Concert
This is a reunion I cannot wait to see, “Mr. Big,” is in talks of a reunion. Formed in Los Angeles back in 1988. With an incredible lineup of Eric Martin, Paul Gilbert, Billy Sheehan, and Pat Torpey. Got to see them many times including at the Ritz in Roseville and Harpo’s concert theater.
The Big Band Is Ready
Eric Martin still has those incredible vocals and had confirmed that the band will return “in the middle of 2023” with a “phenomenal” new drummer, one that the late Pat Torpey would approve of. Sadly the band’s original drummer Pat Torpey passed away in 2018 from Parkinson’s disease. Nicholas D’Virgilio is the new drummer or nickname, NDV. Best known as a member of the progressive rock band Spock’s Beard.
Favorites from Mr. Big include hits like, “Green Tinted Sixties Mind,” “Addicted To That Rush,” “Daddy, Brother, Lover, Little Boy,” and the huge hit, “To Be With You.” The show was at the Ritz back in 1994 on a cold night in February in Roseville, Michigan. I will never forget it. I was in the Ritz front office when Eric Martin came in and sat down and we had a chat. The telephone rang and I picked up the girl on the other end of the line and asked if Mr. Big was playing at the bar that night. Eric grabbed the phone and started singing to her on the phone. All I could hear was the girl screaming with joy. The show was one of the best I had ever seen.
