The giant robot taking over Detroit. Okay, it's actually the Hudson building - but you tell me that it doesn't look like a giant robot (nice catch to our friends at Daily Detroit!)

The giant robot taking over Detroit? Wait...we've already got a giant robot statue in Detroit. Somewhere. Remember the Robocop statue? We went to see it a couple of years ago - still waiting to see if it actually turns up in Eastern Market. Why don't they sell it to a local movie chain who'd LOVE to put it in their lobby? Hmmmmm.....

Back in June this is what we were told -

It’s been a long time coming – but we finally know where the RoboCop statue is going to be – at Eastern Market. Now we don’t know EXACTLY where it’ll be…but our buddy Brandon Walley told the Detroit Free Press:

“It’s going to be displayed very prominently in Eastern Market, which already is an amazing center for public art,” said Brandon Walley, a Detroit filmmaker and a key part of the grassroots quest to make the RoboCop statue.

Although he didn’t reveal specifics on the exact site, Walley said, “The plans are made for the location and it’s going to be great.”

Of course if you're looking that perfect robot loving person - there's always this:

A company in Japan has created a 15-foot, four-wheeled robot that looks like "Mobile Suit Gundam", which is similar to what you'd recognize as a character from Hasbro's "Transformers".

And they're hoping to be able to sell them . . . for $3 MILLION.

It's a giant robot, and you can climb in and pilot it around.  There are 26 different joints you can control from the cockpit, and it can also just "drive" down a street.

(To be clear, "Transformers" and "Gundam" are two different things.  "Transformers" were living robots from another world.  "Mobile Suits" are weapons USED by characters.  This is the latter.)
