The Dramatic Rock And Roll Timeline of The KISS Goodbye
KISS is saying goodbye for the last time at their two shows at Madison Square Garden in New York City. However, is this the last goodbye? Bands have had the habit of saying goodbye to ramp-up ticket prices and hype for years. Will Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley hang up the KISS high platform shoes?
The First Kiss Off
KISS began their DYNASTY Tour in 1979 starting in Florida. KISS performed over 75 shows in the US and Canada, with opening acts including Cheap Trick, John Cougar, Loverboy, and Judas Priest. The tour, which ended December 16th in Toledo, Ohio, was also Peter Criss’ final tour with KISS until the REUNION Tour 1996.
The First KISS Farewell Tour
The Farewell Tour was a concert tour started on March 11, 2000 and concluded on April 13, 2001. It was the last tour to feature original member Ace Frehley. It was to be the last tour, however, in late 2002 they announced that they were not going to retire as planned. Although Kiss continued performing after the tour. This was the final tour with the original, reunited lineup.
The Tour Book for the tour had a quote from Paul Stanley.
“The Reunion tour made us the number one band again. We played to about two million people in one year. Then we did the Psycho Circus tour and after that we thought, “been there, done it.” We’re the champs again, let’s retire on top and we felt there is nothing worse than having someone go away and you don’t get to say goodbye so this tour really is for the fans and to celebrate the whole history of the band.”
May 24-25th KISS played the Palace of Auburn Hills, MI
The KISS ALIVE 35 TOUR
The Alive 35 World Tour was a 2008–2009 to celebrate their 35th anniversary. It was the band’s first major tour since the Rock the Nation World Tour in 2004. This tour included a return to Detroit’s famous Cobo Hall
The KISS 40th Anniversary Tour
The 40th Anniversary World Tour and a special guest, Def Leppard joined for the first 42 shows of the tour. KISS played DTE (Pine Knob) August, 23rd. What a show it was live in concert. Started out a great day with a private meet and great and acoustic show for lucky radio winners. After Def Leppard it was a full blown show. A shorter show due to warm up bands on same bill. but you still got Gene Blood spitting fire solo. A flying Paul Stanley to the separate small platform by the soundboard. The band closed the show with staples “Detroit Rock City” and “Rock And Roll All Nite,”
End Of The Road World Tour 2019-2023
The End of the Road World Tour is the final concert tour? The tour began on January 31, 2019 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada. KISS played two shows on the tour here March, 13th 2019 & recently October 20th 2023. This tour is set to conclude on December 2, 2023 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, United States.
IS This Really The End Of KISS?
Looks like it is very unlikely that Peter Criss and Ace Frehley will join them onstage will be on the last shows at Madison Square Garden. Gene Simmons told “People Magazine online,” KISS is done performing after farewell show, “My hand on the Bible.” Read the full story by clicking here “Paul still has his Soul Station band. Gene has his solo band.” Gene says, “But the physicality of being in the band says that this is the right thing, at the right place, at the right time.”
Personally, I say never say never. Think they still has a few surprises and Gene will have more items to sell you.
