Jollibee’s Is Coming To Detroit – What is it?
Jollibee’s is coming to Detroit. The home of “chickenjoy”….wait what is chickenjoy? And where’s it at in Detroit? – it’s one of the biggest fast food chains in the world and they’re finally opening in Detroit (Sterling Heights to be exact). The name of the place is Jollibee’s…and they’ve got over 1,400 locations around the world – including the new one in Sterling Heights!
What are they known for? Their fried chicken is legendary (chickenjoy), Peach Mango Pies, plus a very interesting spaghetti that includes ham, ground meat and hot dog (don’t roll your eyes…it’s a huge hit world wide). I’m imagining there will be a huge line when it opens Friday, Jan. 12th. Our friends at the Free Press wrote about it as well
Now you know! What is chickenjoy? And where’s at in Detroit? (Jollibee’s at 44945 Woodridge Drive in Sterling Heights).
So what do food bloggers and TikTok folks say about Jollibee’s? Here’s a couple of my favorite follows with reviews:

Or this person spent a full day eating nothing but Jollibee’s:

Speaking of chicken – remember the Dam Site Inn in Pellston? It’s haunted (of course) AND Bob Seger loves their fried chicken dinner…more about it here
And why is it haunted?
- The building that is now the Dam Site Inn in Pellston was once a mess hall for lumberjacks (going back to the 1800’s here).
- It was bought by the Efting sisters, who already owned the Maple River Inn right across the street. They were famous for their chicken & noodle dinners, and it was whispered behind closed doors that they also profited from illegal booze during Prohibition. It was also a nightclub in the 1940’s called “The Clubhouse”.
- The sisters haunt people in the hotel (some folks claim to have seen one – or more in a wedding dress in the upstairs bedroom)
- But the dining room also has been visited by the sisters/ghosts. Patrons at the Dam Site claim to have felt being touched on various places of their bodies by something unseen. You can ask a staff member for the “haunted table”)
What do you think? I’m looking at Google Maps right now and it looks like a four hour drive – road trip anyone? I know we have a ton of haunted places here in #Detroit – but come “Haunted Restaurant In Michigan Loved By Bob Seger” is the worth the trip. And the way they describe the fried chicken…we could do this baby!!
Under The Radar visited the Dam Site Inn about nine years ago and they talked about the “Haunted Table”
So what does Bob Seger have to do with this haunted restaurant? It’s home to his favorite meal in Michigan. Seger loves their fried chicken
Bob was asked:
If you could never visit Michigan again, what food or restaurant would you miss the most?
Bob’s response: The Dam Site Inn in Pellston. They have fabulous chicken dinners. We have a cabin about 25 miles from there. There’s a little airport where we land, and we try to time the landing so it’s dinner time.
