The Band Journey Escape To Michigan In The 80s
Journey started in the 80s as a well-seasoned rock and roll machine. They are reaching their peak with the release of the” ESCAPE” album released in July of 1981. It was the seventh studio album. Five hit Journey singles, “Don’t Stop Believing‘, “Who’s Crying Now“, “Still They Ride,” “Open Arms” and “Stone in Love“.

The Escape Band Line-Up Change
Released in July of 1981 with a change in the lineup. Escape was the band’s first album with Jonathan Cain, who replaced Gregg Rolie after he left the band in 1980. Back in 2019, Rolie told Rolling Stone magazine that he left “because I didn’t like my life anymore. The New lineup consisted of Steve Perry, Neil Schon, Steve “Machine Gun” Smith, Ross Valory, and Johnathan Cain.
The Jonathan Cain Effect Takes Off
The former keyboard player left another popular band, “The Babys,” in 1980. Johnathan’s writing and playing some of the band’s greatest songs, “Don’t Stop Believing,” “Open Arms,” and “Faithfully.” To date, Johnathan Cain has been featured on 13 albums.
Detroit City Is The Motor Rock
We still kid Journey all the time about, “South Detroit.” in the song Don’t Stop Believing.” you can’t deny that it became a pop-culture staple and a stadium anthem for sports teams. The band played over 65 times around Detroit Rock City. In the 80s with 5 nights in a row at Cobo Hall, 5 nights at Joe Louis Arena. The tour included six consecutive sold-out dates at the Pine Knob Theatre in Detroit
Captured LIVE in Detroit
From multiple Detroit shows and some recorded in Houston. The band released their 1st live album titled, “Captured.” recorded at multiple arenas and also came from two shows at Cobo Hall in Detroit, Michigan August 4 & 5, 1980. went on to sell two million copies

Foreigner nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame
WCSX’s Big Jim’s House classic rock mornings show recently interviewed John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. “This remarkable list of Nominees reflects the diverse artists and music that the Rock & Roll Hall honors and celebrates,” John Sykes said. “Continuing in the true spirit of Rock & Roll, these artists have created their own sounds that have impacted generations and influenced countless others that have followed in their footsteps.”
Two-thirds of the artists on the list for “rock’s highest honor” are first-time nominees, and many are women.
Ten out of 15 of the Nominees are on the ballot for the first time, including Mariah Carey, Cher, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Kool & the Gang, Lenny Kravitz, Oasis, Sinéad O’Connor, Ozzy Osbourne and Sade.
According to the Hall of Fame, artists must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years before the year of nomination to be considered.

a type of popular dance music originating in the 1950s, characterized by a heavy beat and simple melodies. Rock and roll was an amalgam of rhythm and blues and country music, usually based on a twelve-bar structure and an instrumentation of guitar, bass, and drums.
The Hall Of Fame is trying to be diverse by a wide variety of artists this year. Mariah Carey, Cher, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Kool & the Gang, Lenny Kravitz, Oasis, Sinéad O’Connor, Ozzy Osbourne and Sade.
