New Downtown Detroit Roller Skating And Game Space Open

A new Downtown Detroit roller skating and game space is now open. The venue is part of Decked Out Detroit. Remix Detroit, in partnership with Bluewater Technologies, is located at 1413 Woodward Ave., will be a free, immersive music lab where visitors can experiment with "melodies and lights by rearranging and altering illuminated spheres and turntables."

According to Decked Out Detroit's website, Remix Detroit will feature different music themes and artists throughout the year. Remix Detroit will be open Thursdays through Fridays from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturdays from noon to 8 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m. They will have extended hours during Draft week and will be open from Thursday through Saturday from noon to 8 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.

Decked Out Detroit's Next Level by Rollercade and Remix Detroit are officially open in Downtown Detroit.

Additionally, people can enjoy Next Level by RollerCade at 1201 Woodward Ave., near the Nike store across from the new Hudson's site development, and in a former Under Armour storefront in Downtown Detroit. The two-level attraction features a roller rink on the second floor with skate rentals available. Skate admission is $10 and skate rental is $3, according to the website.

They have a variety of new and classic video and interactive games on the ground level including basketball, air hockey, racing, and more ($0.50 – $3.00 per play). Level up to the second floor to enjoy indoor roller skating overlooking Woodward Avenue.

Drinks and light bites will also be available for purchase at concessions.

Previously, a roller rink operated at a seasonal location for about three years at Monroe Street Midway. The new location is in a Bedrock-owned building.

RollerCade owner Kyle Black, 32, told the Detroit Free Press that the new Woodward location will be the permanent, year-round location in downtown. The original RollerCade, off Schaefer Highway in southwest Detroit, remains open.

Next Level by Rollercade will be open Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The excitement

Bedrock Detroit posted about the grand opening excitement on Instagram with a video showcasing both Remix Detroit and Next Level. "Happy grand opening to Next Level and Remix Detroit! These spaces have transformed over the last few weeks, adding two new entertainment options to downtown," they wrote.

Some people chimed in on the comments to also share their excitement for the two spaces. "i just went! pretty cool. hope it can stay thru the summer," one person said. "The city been showing out and I love every bit of it," another person said. Someone summed up the spaces in two words, "So Dope!"
