GIANT SLIDE SAFTEY UPGRADES
Honestly, it doesn’t seem like they did much, but according to The Michigan Department of Natural Resources, they have cleaned and waxed the slide, which they say should slow down the speed. They also replaced the landing area to give people a little more relief after getting their head smacked while going over the 5 massive humps.
Thinking about taking a trip down the Giant Slide? Make sure you are 48 inches tall and hang on like hell! The word is the DNR will also be out there this weekend to teach people how to properly slide down. According to them, you want to lean forward so you don’t get pulled back after the first bump. Below is a video of them explaining how to ride it.
So, some of you may not know the hilarious past of the Giant Slide. For many years it was closed down, a few years ago it was opened again and lasted a whole 2 weeks before being closed once again. This time, it was closed for safety issues, you will see in the videos below but for those two weeks, people were getting major injuries from the slide.
Here are some videos showing how crazy the slide was when it was first reopened. Hopefully they slowed it down enough!
So, if you plan on going this weekend to ride the Giant Slide, just make sure you lean forward and get their quick! I am sure it won’t be long before someone gets hurt and they close it down again.
Oh before you go, don’t forget how famous the Giant Slide fail became! Local Rapper GMac Cash made a song about it.
Okay, one more thing, should we bring back these shirts? We made them after the first Giant Slide fail.
