Mr. Big Long Awaited Reunion Tour Comes To Metro Detroit In February
Mr. Big one year ago announced that the band would be making a return to the stage soon. Calling it, The Big Finish Your 2024. Band is ready and will be playing the album, Lean Into It, in its entirety from start to finish. Now, the Mr. Big reunion tour will be coming to Metro Detroit in February!
Is This The Last Tour And Time To See Mr. Big Live?
After 35 years the band has decided to put on the top hat one more time. The band has already toured Japan and South Asia already and is set to continue the US leg of the Big Farewell tour. Mr. Big The Big Finish is coming to Royal Oak Music Theatre this February 20th, 2024!
Mr. Big, according to last.fm, combined trends of the 80s like melodies, listener-friendly choruses, and “shredding”. In 1989, Mr. Big signed a contract with Atlantic and released their self-titled album, Mr. Big.
Mr. Big The Band
The original members consisted of Eric Martin (lead vocals), Paul Gilbert (guitar), Billy Sheehan (bass), and Pat Torpey (drums). They decided to go on a reunion tour for 2023-2024 but replaced Pat Torpey, who passed away from Parkinson’s in 2018, with drummer Nick D’ Virgilio.
Mr. Big The Big Finish is coming to Royal Oak Music Theatre this February 2024!
This is a reunion I cannot wait to see. Formed in Los Angeles back in 1988. With an incredible lineup of Eric Martin, Paul Gilbert, Billy Sheehan, and Pat Torpey. Got to see them many times including at the Ritz in Roseville and Harpo’s concert theater.
Eric Martin still has those incredible vocals and has confirmed that the band will return “in the middle of 2023” with a “phenomenal” new drummer, one that the late Pat Torpey would approve of. Sadly the band’s original drummer Pat Torpey passed away in 2018 from Parkinson’s disease. The band is not releasing the new drummer’s name as of yet till the official press release is out.
Mr. Big The Hits
My favorites from Mr. Big include hits like, “Green Tinted Sixties Mind,” “Addicted To That Rush,” “Daddy, Brother, Lover, Little Boy,” and the huge hit, “To Be With You.” The show was at the Ritz back in 1994 on a cold night in February in Roseville, Michigan. I will never forget it. I was in the Ritz front office when Eric Martin came in and sat down and we had a chat. The telephone rang and I picked up the girl on the other end of the line and asked if Mr. Big was playing at the bar that night. Eric grabbed the phone and started singing to her on the phone. All I could hear is the girl screaming with joy. The show was one of the best I had ever seen.
