Steve Vai Talks Guitars And Joe Satriani
Steve Vai Talks Guitars And Joe Satriani. Widely regarded as one of the ten greatest guitar players in the world – Steve checked in before the Tuesday, April 16th show with him and Joe Satriani at the Fisher Theatre (tickets available here).
Steve Vai Talks Guitars And Joe Satriani – He’s A Genius
First off, I have to be honest – Steve Vai is a musical genius (in my opinion). This is the first time I’ve ever interviewed him…and I was nervous. I get lost in watching him play on stage, and to finally tour his teacher Joe Satriani (that’s right – Joe was his teacher…Steve took his first lesson at the age of 12).
This is a wide ranging discussion where we talk about everything from musical influences, learning the guitar, creative mindset, motivation and how he played BOTH sides of the guitar duel in the movie “Crossroads”.
So now that we know Steve played both sides – check out the battle here:
Who’s your favorite guitarist?
I love this list Screamin’ Scott put together last year – and when we got time to spend with a legend as Steve Vai Talks Guitars And Joe Satriani…I started thinking about how musicians like Steve Vai (and our own Screamin’ Scott) look at music through a different lens.
I’ll never play guitar – tried to learn music, just didn’t get it. But I can learn and love watching guys like Steve Vai, Hendrix, Joe Satriani, Phil Collen from Def Leppard, Clapton, Beck, Gary Moore and so many others.
There’s something soaring about electric guitars – I’ve always felt that classical composers would gravitate to the electric guitars if they were around today. That’s why I wasn’t really surprised that a guitar genius like Steve Vai has watched Amadeus multiple times. If you love guitars, this is a MUST see concert at the Fisher Theatre.
