Michigan winter snow and ice

The Next Winter Snow and Ice Episode in Metro Detroit is heading our way later this week. Heavy snow will come from this system but it will be mostly north of Pontiac and is expected to bring steady snow. We may have this system late Wednesday into early Thursday. Winter isn’t done with us yet. The next 48 hours will make or break us in predicting what kind of storm is going to form. So don’t drain the gas out of the snow blower just yet. My guess is to keep the ice scraper and salt handy for this one. We usually get hit with a giant ice storm that makes everything look beautiful, but also hard to get the Red Wings game if your TV dish is covered with ice.

If you live South of I-94 to the state line, look for a period of rain before the changeover to frozen rain Thursday morning. North of Port Huron could see 5” or more snow.  Monroe always seems to get socked with bad weather, but will not see any significant amounts of snow, look for rain and possible ice. Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties are already under a Winter Storm Watch.

I am just like all of you, I had Winter weather being toast.  Time for Spring and Tigers baseball. But I guess that fluffy Ground Hog had some weather info before all of us. A possible winter storm system will move into Metro Detroit during the afternoon Wednesday and continue through midday Thursday. Rain, freezing rain, and snow are all possible depending on where you live. Wonder how much a plane ticket to Cabo would be for this week?

A major winter storm will spread heavy snow and blizzard conditions through the Rockies, Plains and upper Midwest, and snow and ice from the Great Lakes into parts of the Northeast. The storm has been named Winter Storm Olive by The Weather Channel.
