Business Expansions to Create 210 New Jobs in Eaton, Oakland, Muskegon Counties
Gov. Gretchen Witmer announced three business expansion projects on Thursday, March 13. These projects will create 210 new jobs and generate more than $56 million in economic activity in Eaton, Muskegon, and Oakland counties.
AJG Aerospace, which provides products for the space, defense, and commercial airline industries, has announced plans to expand its manufacturing capabilities. It will move workers to a new location in Independence Township, Oakland County, by leasing and renovating a 120,000-square-foot facility. The new plant will function as both headquarters and manufacturing.
The investment in its facility is anticipated to result in a capital investment of at least $33,785,373 and support 125 new jobs through the Michigan Strategic Fund. This fund provides a $1 million Michigan Business Development Program (MBDP) performance-based grant.
Midwest Press and Automation is expanding its footprint in Delta Township, Eaton County, by adding 27,000 square feet of assembly and machining space to its facility to meet growing customer demand. The company’s expansion is anticipated to create a capital investment of approximately $4 million and 15 new jobs with a starting wage of $32 per hour plus benefits.
Forming Technologies, a Muskegon-based thermoformed products manufacturer, is expanding its facility in Muskegon’s Port City Industrial Park to accommodate new business. The company’s expansion plans involve constructing a new building with at least 150,000 square feet of space in the park. This new facility will also become the company’s new corporate headquarters.
Forming Technologies anticipates its expansion project will result in a capital investment of up to $18,766,591, the creation of 70 new jobs, and the retention of 91 jobs.
“I’m grateful to all three of these companies for betting on Michigan and on Michiganders,” Whitmer said in a Michigan Economic Development Corp. news release. “We have the economic momentum, the workforce, and the tools to help businesses and workers succeed, and I will work with anyone to create even more jobs and bring even more investment to every region of our state. Let’s help anyone ‘make it’ in Michigan.”
