As most of you know, golf is more than a game for me, I watch it because I love it, I also watch it because unlike other sports, you can have moments like we had this weekend during the PGA Championship.

The 2nd major of the year was this weekend at the legendary Oak Hill in Rochester New York. The PGA championship is one of the greatest tournaments of the year because it gives local club pros the chance to compete with the best in the game.

For years, club pros have been teeing it up at the PGA Championship, but none of them did what Michael Block from  Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club in Southern California.

Now, Michael is no slouch, he has dominated the club pro level in California for years, he has also played in 7 majors but never did what he did over the week.

Entering the 4th round on Sunday Michael was tied for 10th with a dream pairing with Rory. This was the first time a club pro has ever been inside the top ten in the massive history of this tournament.

But, it was all week. From being high on the leaderboard all weekend to hitting incredible shots like this one on a par 3 in the final round.

After hitting the shot, he had no idea it went in. Imagine having Rory tell you that you just dunked it in front of all those fans.

It didn’t end with this shot though, here is the video from his home course, as they watched him hit a hole in one.

Now here is the wild part, Michael ended up finishing tied for 15 which means, he takes home over 280,000 dollars. He will also get to play in next years tournament without having to qualify.

There is so much more to this amazing story from the weekend, but it just goes to back up what I have always said. There is something different about golf. I don’t care if you play or not, this story will bring tears to your eyes.

Here is more in this amazing story:

This is another great video, next week’s tournament runner, letting Michael know that he is getting an exemption to play:

Overall, this is why I love this game so much, even the regular guy can have a chance.
