Rant Session: Time To Bring “The Wave” Back

Selena Gomez attends the 80th Annual Golden Globe Awards

Born on July 22, 1992 in Texas, Gomez began her acting career on ‘Barney & Friends.’ A few years later, she starred in her own Disney television show, ‘Wizards of Waverly Place.’ After performing with her former band, Gomez went solo in 2013 and continues to make music. She also stars along Martin Short and Steve Martin in the Hulu mystery comedy, ‘Only Murders In The Building,’ which she has won awards for.

If you listen to Big Jim's House than you have come to know me to act much older than I am. Not in terms of knowledge or smarts, but in terms of being an old sole who still sees values in things people have seem to forgot. I am glad one of my favorite dudes out there Taylor Lewan has brought this up. It's something I have complained about for a long time but nothing has seemed to change.

We need to bring the wave back, I get upset and my wife knows this, when I wave to someone in your sub and you don't get a wave back. What happened to those times? It may be that I grew up on a lake where everyone waves at you no matter what, but I feel like it is something small that sometimes can make a huge difference. This is something I have talked about for years. Let's start waving to each other again.

Here is the video that Taylor put on his X account yesterday. It's all about waving to parents in the school drop of line but I think it applies to every situation.

Like Taylor said, waving makes someone feel like they are apart of something bigger, like we are all in this grind together. I wave to people who live in my sub because we are apart of something together. When I don't get a wave back it bums me out and shows that people are just in their own world and not caring or paying attention to what's around them. It's time to bring it back, start waving to people. It honestly may make someone's day!

Again, I act much older than I actually am and I know this. Big Jim likes to call me a grumpy old man, I like to call myself old fashioned. I was brought up with standards and the teachings of my dad. Always have a hard handshake and look someone in eyes, and you always wave to a neighbor no matter how you feel about them.

Alright, end of rant! Have a great day everyone.

Hey It’s Ryan, let me start off by saying…YES, I was born and raised in Wixom, Michigan although a lot of listeners like to joke that I am from Arizona. WCSX has always been my radio home, I have been at the station since I was a 23-year-old intern, co-host of Big Jim’s House, married with kids. Family and radio are what I love, but don’t get me started on golf! Like some, I have become obsessed with golf and you can hear all about that on “The Ball Washer Pod” right here on WCSX. One of my other passions is helping out the Vets. Since coming to WCSX I have been apart of raising hundreds of thousands for local vet groups. Other than that, I am a goofy guy, loving life, my family and talking to you on the radio. Ryan writes about golf, family and what happens on “Big Jim’s House.”
