Stupid Criminals: Speeding While Hauling A House
Speeding while hauling a house. Wait, what?
People are often caught speeding on their way home . . . but THIS GUY was caught speeding WITH a home. Literally.
A man in Excelsior Springs, Missouri was caught speeding . . . while hauling a HOUSE. He was driving a truck, with a 70-foot long, trailer-style house in tow.
The police tried to pull him over, but he wouldn’t stop and led the police on a chase. They even tried to use “stop sticks” to slow the guy down, but they didn’t work. It eventually ended when the guy drove off the road.
He was arrested. It’s unclear WHY the guy was speeding with a house. And this happened on Thanksgiving, which makes it even stranger.
The cops say they suspected the driver was drunk when they saw the house flying down the road . . . but they haven’t said if that ended up being the case.
(Here’s a video, where the local department provided some HILARIOUS commentary, ending with, “We took him to jail. Like Excelsior does. Whooo-weee!”)
More stupid criminal news? You got it:
When someone is caught with something they shouldn’t have, their first instinct is to say that it’s NOT theirs. Which might be believable in some situations . . . but not this one:
A 46-year-old man in Florida named Caleb Phillips was being screened by a corrections officer at a jail on Monday, when they discovered that he had a “plastic cylinder” IN his underwear . . . tucked under his junk. Caleb said it wasn’t his.
When asked how it got there, he suggested that “someone” put it there while he was sleeping. (???)
When the officer started investigating the cylinder, Caleb said he thought it contained Advil. Which is a decent guess for a man who claimed he didn’t know it was there. But it turns out it had METH inside.
Caleb was charged with narcotics possession and smuggling contraband into a detention facility . . . both felonies. He’s being held without bond.
(Here’s his mugshot.)
