Michigan Weather for February
I’m not running the gas out of the snowblower yet. But here’s the prediction for Michigan weather for February.
When is Spring?
It’s not my fault to start thinking about Spring. Blame Bill Murray and the scene from “Groundhog Day” when he gets asked if it’s going to be an early spring and he responds “I’m predicting March 21st”. So are we going to have an early spring? Let’s get to it.
Prediction for Michigan Weather in February
I’ve always felt the best way to research something like the weather is to go to multiple sources and find a consensus. So here’s what I’ve learned:
- First half of February is going to very mild (almost spring like in the 50s some days). Does that mean we’re done with winter? Nope.
- The second half of the month is leaning more towards precipitation (potential for freezing rain and snow) – our friends at MLive have broken this down.
- So are we done with winter? I wouldn’t bet on it. Detroit averages six inches of snow over five snow days in the month of March. Didn’t we get some pretty good snow last March?
The Curse of the Snowblower
Last year I thought we were done with winter in mid-February and made a rookie move. I drained the gas out of my snowblower and put it away for the season. Oh believe me I caught hell for it – and then we got hit with a bunch of snow in March. I can promise you I won’t do this again. Maybe.
The most Detroit snowblower ever
Now if it does snow again (i’m being optimistic) – I need this bad boy.
