PGA Tour Vs. LIV League: Who Won The Weekend
This was a very big weekend for the PGA Tour and LIV Golf. It was the first weekend of the season where both tours played simultaneously. In my opinion there was on clear winner and it wasn’t the PGA Tour. Let me explain further.
Things set up great for the PGA Tour this past weekend, they were at Pebble Beach for the AT&T Pro-AM. Unfortunately for the PGA Tour, the weather was an issue all weekend and ultimately turned the tournament into a 54 hole event. Sunday’s round was canceled due to poor weather and after seeing the forecast for this week, the decided to just call the tournament. With the tournament called after 54 holes, Wyndham Clark was awarded the win. Honestly, it is a little disappointing because the leaderboard was set up for an exciting final round.
If you have listened to my Ball Washer Pod, you know I am a PGA first kind of guy. With that said, I fully believe that LIV won the weekend. Although they were in Mexico and the crowds were not massive, the golf and coverage was great. Joaquin Niemann who in a thrilling 4 hole playoff. The final playoff holes were played in almost pitch dark, which for me added the the entertainment value.
Here was the final putt:

ANOTHER WIN FOR LIV;
Another reason I believe LIV won the weekend, Jon Rahm won the team title. This was just what LIV needed to kick off their season. A wild finish and Jon Rahm doing well. From the looks of it, Rahm is fitting right into the new format.

Another takeaway from this weekend of golf was the difference in coverage. Sunday LIV action was on the CW. Limited commercials and a lot more golf shots than you see on a PGA broadcast. Another thing I loved, LIV has all players and caddies mic’d up. That is a huge plus when watching golf, it’s like being inside the huddle of a NFL game.
