The Players: What A Great Weekend
If you are a golf fan, this weekend at The Players Championship was one for the ages. We had it all, hole in ones, major comebacks and so much more. When it was all said and done, Scottie Scheffler made history and Wyndham Clark hung tough.
This weekend at The Players is one of the many reason why I continue to support the PGA Tour and their players. You really had everything in this tournament, really the first major of the year. Friday you had Adam Hadwin throw his club 56 yards into a lake. A couple of hole in one’s on 17 and a leaderboard that was stacked from top to bottom.
It all came down to the back nine on Sunday, as it tends to do in these kind of events. World number one Scottie Scheffler showed us why he is number one. Scottie started off Sunday’s rounds well off the lead, he went on to shot an incredible 8 under to take the title. It was a hard fought round on many levels for Scottie.
He was dealing with a neck injury that took place on Friday, he also was facing trying to be the first player to ever with The Players Championship 2 years in a row. It’s been an amazing and very rewarding last two weeks for Scottie. He won the Arnold Palmer last week and now the players. In the last two weeks, Scottie has won over 10 million in prize money.

When it was all said and done, it came down to one put from Clark. He hit it to about 20 feet on 18 and needed to make it to send the two into a playoff. Watch how close he came, Honestly, I cannot believe this golf ball stayed out!

Again, this is why I support the PGA Tour over LIV. This entire weekend gave you what you love in golf. Some drama, some amazing shots and an ending people will be talking about for a few weeks. Like I said, I cannot believe that putt didn’t go in for Clark. We will see what this does to the rest of his season, can he now use this as motivation.
And for those worried about the lack of payouts on the PGA Tour, check out what the top 15 made. It’s clear that the PGA Tour has evened the field when it comes to the biggest tournaments of the season. LIV’s payouts no longer seem so crazy when you see what they guys made for this weekend.
One player we didn’t see a lot of this weekend on T.V. was Joel Dahmen. He ended up finishing T-11 which makes me very happy, he is a guy you always find yourself rooting for. Glad to see he came out and had a great Sunday finish.
